Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has revealed that the club has been offering counselling to striker Benson Omala.

The forward was left in agony last week after his transfer to Algerian club, JS Saoura fell through despite the involved parties agreeing on the deal.

From documents seen, Omala was to bag millions, a car, hefty allowances among others with Gor also smiling to the bank from the six-month loan deal which would have cost Saoura three million.

The transfer hit a snag, leaving Omala counting his losses and physiologically affected as Gor had already bade him farewell and from the look of things, he was ready to confront the new challenge head-on.

Saoura who faulted Gor for failing to sanction the move on time signed a Cameroonian striker as an alternative after missing out on Omala’s signature.

Rachier in an interview with Citizen TV’s program Sporty Monday revealed that the club had been engaging Omala in a bid to get him mentally ready for the remainder of the season.

“The coach has been counseling him, so am I and the rest of the management team,” said the city lawyer.

Omala was brought in the second half in last weekend’s barren draw against Ulinzi Stars at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

At the same time, Rachier exonerated Gor from the failed transfer saying poor planning by Omala’s agents couldn't have been treated as an emergency by the club.

Rachier said Omala’s agents approached the club with four days remaining in the mid-season transfer window and internal consultations had to be undertaken before the deal was sanctioned.

“Where were those agents in the entire window? Two days were not sufficient enough to make a  decision of such magnitude. We also had to consult the coach as well. We also had a match that weekend and we didn't want to divert the focus and attention of the player,” he added.
