With the league getting more intense every week, fans should expect more jaw dropping games ahead.

The Kenya Handball National Men’s League delivered an exciting weekend of action with teams battling hard for every point. The matches included a lot of drama, close finishes and amazing performances to entertain the fans into the new month.

And what a heat up the past weekend has left the league in! Now NCPB Men and Equity sit tied at the very top on a faultless 20 points each. Ulinzi is a distance away in third as they have 18 points. Daystar Falcons and Strathmore University are also up there in pop with their positions in the top half of the table. On the other side of things, Mountain Primes, NYS Men and Bungoma Poly are in a not very good place right now being at the bottom of the table and fighting for their survival from relegation.

In their last encounters, JKUAT and NYS Men played to a draw at 21-all, as neither could find the edge to push ahead of the other in the contest. Daystar Falcons narrowly defeated Hammers 34-30 and provided evidence of why they are climbing the table. Equity proved again why it is undergoing the motion as the best team this season when they trashed Thika 40-29. Strathmore University easily sailed past Young City with a score of 26-13.

Sunday also had its own measure of midway fair. JKUAT needed the narrowest of margins to see off Young City, 20-19, in what many would classify as a 50:50 affair. Thika’s men had their hands full with mountains of tall boys coming from NYS, prevailing by 37-36 in what many would consider thrilling. Equity kept their record intact after dethroning Desert Scorpion, 38-28, while NCPB Men remain unblemished after edging past Strathmore University 19-18 in a pressure cooker. Meanwhile, Hammers reacted to that by literally thrashing Mountain Primes, 36-16; it was much-needed.

With the league getting more intense every week, fans should expect more jaw dropping games ahead. The race for the title is as tight as ever and for teams at the bottom, every match is now a fight for survival for them to have a chance in the new format Handball Premier  League come next season.
