Gachomba Leads Team to Victory at Thika KCB Golf Tour

KCB also held a juniors’ golf clinic and a tree planting exercise on Sunday, reflecting the bank's commitment to growing the sport and supporting environmental sustainability.

The four-ball team of Emma Gachomba, Ann Kariuki, Judy Waihenya, and Eunice Muthemba scored a combined 147 points to claim the overall team title at the 20th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour, held at the par-72 Thika Sports Club on Saturday evening.

Out of 220 golfers, the team of Liz Mocheche, Walsh Irungu, Wayne Cook, and Ian Irungu finished second with a combined score of 142 points at the lush 18-hole course.

Gachomba, reflecting on the victory, shared: “We formed the group just days before the tournament, aiming for a win to qualify for the tour’s grand finale. I’m proud of everyone’s effort in such a competitive event. Now, we’ll train harder for the grand finale.”

In individual categories, Sam Njenga (Handicap 7) excelled with 41 stableford points, earning him the overall winner's title. David Karuma (Handicap 9) secured the men's winner award with 38 points, while Dr. Lucy Wanjiru (Handicap 36) claimed the lady winner's prize with 41 points.

Allan Kirui (Handicap 21) took the staff winner's award with 38 points, edging out Peter Mwaura (Handicap 12), who finished second with 37 points. Timothy Muita (Handicap 28) scored 40 points to win the guest winner category.

Junior golfer Jesse Kirunga (Handicap 36) impressed with 40 points, winning the junior’s category. Charles Musungu and L. Apukey won the longest drive awards for men and women, respectively.
