Scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 3, 2025, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, the Women's AfroBasket promises to be a thrilling event for basketball fans across Africa.

The much anticipated lineup for the 2025 FIBA Women's AfroBasket has been completed with South Sudan and Guinea receiving the final two wildcards for the tournament. The announcement was made by the FIBA Regional Office for Africa on Tuesday. These two nations now join Egypt and Mozambique, who were granted their wildcards earlier this month, completing the 12 team roster for the prestigious basketball competition.

Scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 3, 2025, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, the Women's AfroBasket promises to be a thrilling event for basketball fans across Africa. The official tournament draw will be held on April 23, 2025, in Abidjan, marking the beginning of the countdown to what is expected to be an unforgettable competition.

South Sudan’s inclusion in the tournament marks a historic achievement for the nation, as this will be their first ever appearance at the Women’s AfroBasket. The team earned their spot through a strong performance at the FIBA Africa Zone 5 qualifiers in Cairo last month, where they finished third. South Sudan managed impressive wins over Kenya and Burundi, although losses to eventual champions Uganda and hosts Egypt prevented them from securing a higher place. Despite this, their performance was enough to earn them a wildcard invite, signifying their rapid rise in African women's basketball.

Guinea, on the other hand, is no stranger to the Women’s AfroBasket. The country has now received a wildcard invitation for the third consecutive time, having been granted similar opportunities in both the 2021 and 2023 editions.

The final 12 teams set to compete in the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket include:

1. Côte d'Ivoire(hosts)
2. Nigeria (2023 champions)
3. Senegal (2023 runners-up)
4. Mali (2023 bronze medallists)
5. Rwanda (2023 fourth-place finishers)
6. Cameroon (Zone 4 qualifiers)
7. Uganda (Zone 5 qualifiers)
8. Angola (Zone 6 qualifiers)
9. Egypt (wildcard)
10. Mozambique (wildcard)
11. South Sudan (wildcard)
12. Guinea (wildcard)
