A final day two under par score of 70 saw Zimbabwe’s Robson Chinhoi register his second Safari Tour win of the season after defeating long term leader Eric Ooko on the final day of the sixth round of the Tour at the Limuru Country Club on Wednesday 26 January 2022.

Ooko started the final round well and looked to be on course for victory especially after a strong front nine performance even as Chinhoi stalked him ever so closely.

Ooko’s back nine play was fraught with a lack of concentration as he first missed the fairway at the 10th hole before dropping a shot on the 12th hole with Chinhoi growing in confidence and eventually taking the lead, going two shots clear at this stage before bogeying on the 15th hole, an incident that did not matter following Ooko’s 13th hole bogey.

Chinhoi would hold out for victory as he kept his quest for Kenya Open qualification alive.

Following the victory, Chinhoi took home Kshs 319,091 while Ooko and Njoroge pocketed Kshs 176,364 and Kshs 148,364 for finishing second and third respectively. The remaining two rounds of the Tour will be held in Karen and Muthaiga next month.
