Bandari optimistic ahead of CAF Duel
Bandari FC arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday morning, three days before the first leg of their CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round against Sudanese side Al Ahly Shendy. The Mombasa based side cannot play the CAF tie at their traditional home ground in Mbaraki as it is not yet given the thumbs up by FIFA and will play at the Kasarani Stadium.
The dockers held their first training session at the Jamhuri High School on Wednesday evening as they do the final touches on their tactics ahead of the game.
Head coach Bernard Mwalala says the team is in good spirits ahead of the game and will look at the next few days to prepare the team psychologically for their return to continental football.
“We have had a very good period of training from the time we went for pre-season camp in South Africa, to Rwanda for CECAFA and then Mombasa. I think the team is ready for the task at hand.,” Mwalala told Michezoafrika.
“I think this is the best kind of pre-season the team has ever had and now we don’t have an excuse not to perform. As a team, we will do our best,” he added.
The tactician has admitted that they don’t know much about their opponents but says they will concentrate on working on their game plan to ensure victory at home.
