The sixth edition of the Airtel Kenya Rising Stars talent search competition  will be  launched  in conjunction with the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) at the  Upper Hill School in Nairobi onWednesday 29 June 2016.

The competition will kick off during this year’s Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association term 2B regional final games that kick off on 6 July 2016, culminating in the national finals in Kisumu County from 1st to 6th August.

Airtel Rising Stars program is designed to provide a structured platform for scouts, coaches, football authorities, other partners and supporters to tap into a vast pool of upcoming talent, courtesy of the program and build strong soccer talent feeder systems for our leagues and national teams.

The Airtel Rising Stars has over the years churned out talent that has gone on to grace the national stage, most notably Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga who lit up the Kenyan Premier League with Gor Mahia before making the move to play professional football in Sweden as well as Harambee Starlets forward Mwanahalima Adam “Dogo”.

“In 2011, we unveiled an ambitious soccer talent programme - the Airtel Rising Stars - that focuses on identifying and nurturing budding soccer talent from the grassroots onto a national stage. The success of this tournament is testament to the fact that football has a unique ability to connect and empower communities, as well as to create a positive community impact from the grassroots to a national level”, said Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi.
