Football Kenya Federation Mombasa Sub branch is set to launch a ladies football league in July. The Sub branch has appealed to all ladies teams interested in participating in the ladies County league to register with the federation.

While addressing 11 ladies teams during a meeting held at FKF offices in Mombasa, Sub branch Chairman Ali Hassan Tito stated that gender balance was one of the branch’s main priorities, “We regret the federation has never organized a football league for ladies and wish to apologize on the same. Gender balance is one of our key principles.” He said.

The ladies league, the first of its kind in Mombasa will run simultaneously with the under 14 boys’ league and will operate under the Chair of sub branch women representative Lillian Nandudu. A ladies tournament will be organized at the end of this month as a precursor to the main ladies County league.

The teams that were in attendance in the meeting were Jomvu Ladies, Mikindani Ladies, Mikindani Eaglets, Migadini Ladies, Chaani Ladies, Allidina Sea Eagles, Massive Queens, Likoni Starlets,Miritini Ladies, Tumaini Ladies and Changamwe CLS.
