Dennis Mabiria is this year's Nyanza Secondary Schools Tennis Champion after thrashing Aaditya Jaiswal of Kisumu Senior Academy 6-4 to lift the title.Mabiria who is a student at Highway High School overcame Hanington Okech of Awasi High School 6-2 in the semi finals while Jaiswal thrashed Bosco Omondi 6-4 to qualify for the finals.

In the Girls finals, Serena Carols of Ulanda Girls High School escaped narrowly with a 7-6 win over hard fighting Edna Grace of Kisumu Girls High School to lift the trophy. In semis, Carol dismissed Shirley Ajuma of Kisumu Girls High School 6-2 as Grace overcame Lilian Ouma of Asumbi Girls 7-5 to book the finals.

In Boys doubles, the pair of Jadson Brian and Jacob Okinyi were crowned champions after thrashing their arch rivals from Nyabondo Boys 7-6 in the finals.

Speaking in Homa Bay High School, over the weekend, Victoria Tennis Academy, Director Collins Agwanda urged schools to take tennis seriously since its becoming the fastest growing sports industry.

''My academy is planning to have a partnership with Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) in order to sponsor all Provincial Secondary Schools Tennis Championships countrywide with tennis prizes to award the boys and girls starting next year'' he added.

Agwanda said his academy is committed to uplift the level of tennis in Western Kenya region most especially in schools saying they will donate different tennis equipment to tennis playing schools in Kenya before the end of the year.
