2012 winner of the Real Insurance Kenya Open Tennis Tournament champion Edgar Kazembe of Zambia may have failed to defend his title nevertheless  he is an happy man following his quest in the 2013 edition.

The 30 year old became the champion last year defeating the 2013 Dancan Mugabe champion in an epic final that lasted over two hours the two met in this year’s edition where the Ugandan emerged supreme in the semi final stage.

“I knew the championships were tough given the formidable opponents I was to face. It was very competitive too with players playing top notch tennis.” He said.

Kenya open was not the only victory for Kazembe as he went on to win the Malawi Open, Zambia Open and Tanzania Open while also experiencing defeat in the Botswana Open.

“Defeat doesn’t signify the end of Kazembe, I have championships to work for. It make some stronger and hungrier to win my next matches.” he said.

“Perhaps one thing most don’t know about me is that I spend most of my time coaching upcoming youngsters in Lusaka and I intend to give back to society by opening a tennis academy to promote the game in my country.” Kazembe told Michezoafrika.com.
