This year's Western Province Secondary Schools games at Kakamega High school  ended on a high note with tennis aces from Butere Girls High School dominating the event, winning singles and doubles titles.

In girls’ singles finals, Mildah Nabwire was crowned the champion after dismissing her school mate Lillian Auma 6-2 to lift the trophy. In the semis, Nabwire overcame Judith Ruto 6-1 as Auma dispatched Lillian Barasa 7-6.

"I am very happy to have defended my title." said Nabwire thanking her Coaches Stanley Mutuli, Tiberius Barasa and School Principal Dora Okaalo for the support they have accorded her.

Eugene Omondi thrashed Joel Muchanga of Kivaywa Boys 6-1 to win the title in the men’s singles. In semis, Talented Omondi a student of Butere Boys and also a member of Victoria Tennis Academy dismissed Style Mundalo of Kivaywa Boys 6-3 as Muchanga breezed past Tirimba Bramwel of Musingu Boys 7-5 to book the finals ticket.

In Girls doubles, the pair of Nicole Adhiambo and Valence Opara of Butere Girls eased past Esther Oulo and Judith Ruto of Lugulu Girls 7-5 to win the title.

Stanley Opili and Eric Barasa of Kivaywa Boys were crowned the champions after thrashing Glen Wawire and Brian Oduke of Ingotse Boys 6-4.

Speaking in Kakamega, Victoria Tennis Academy’s Collins Agwanda urged schools to continue supporting tennis and promised to donate sports equipment to all tennis playing schools in Western Province.
