All is set for the Kenya Open Tennis Championship

The annual Kenya Open Tennis Championship is set to start this weekend with over 135 junior and 100 seniors expected to grace the event at the Nairobi club.

The junior championship which starts on Saturday  March 10th -11th  will be followed by the senior category qualifying event which will take place on March 12th  and 13th  to pave way for the main event which starts on the March 14.

The tournament will see action in the men’s and women’s singles and doubles, mixed doubles, handicap singles, veterans’ doubles, wheelchair men and ladies.

Four countries namely Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and hosts Kenya have so far confirmed participation to this year’s special edition of the games. It is special because this will be the first time for wheelchair tennis to be featured in the tournament.

 “We look forward to a busy week in the calendar of Kenya tennis, all will be represented starting with the juniors, seniors and also veterans and we hope guys will enjoy themselves”, said Neil Mwombe, Kenya Lawn Tennis Association (KLTA) administrator.

The tournament is sponsored by Real Insurance  and winners will walk away with cash prizes. Winner of the men’s singles will pocket 85,000/- prize money while the ladies winner will take home 75,000/-.
