Action continues in Elora Schools Tennis Championships

Kosawo Primary School upcoming tennis ace, Britney Achieng advanced to the quarterfinals of Under 12 girls singles in the ongoing Elora Schools for Shining Hope Tennis Championships. The 10 year old overcame Jane Akinyi 4-0 to advance to the quarters. Susan Adhiambo of Kosawo defeated Alice Atieno of Migosi SDA School 4-0 with Fiona Akinyi holding off Mary Anyango 4-2 to advance.

In the boys Under 12, Trevor Ndalo of Lake Primary defeated Samson Ojienda 4-1 to advance to the quarters. Other players who sailed through are Felix Ochieng who beat Silas Otieno 4-0, George Ochieng holding off Brian Ochieng 4-2 with David Kituko of Queens and Kings Academy riding over Benson Mutinda of Kosawo with a 4-0 defeat.

Verian Akinyi of Kondele Primary booked a quarterfinal spot after defeating Sheilah Akoth of Kosawo Primary 4-0. Britney Achieng bested Chelsea Achieng 4-3. Susan Adhiambo defeated Hellen Onyango of Migosi SDA School 4-0 also to book the quarters ticket. Maureen Makungu of Migosi Primary smashed Mary Anyango 4-0 as Petit Linet defeated Tyra Anyango 4-0 to sail through.

In the boys Under 14, Moses Benson reached the quarters defeating Felix Omondi 4-1. Vincent Otieno defeated Alvin Onyango 4-1 with Desmond Muga taking the better of Brian Onyango to sail to the quarters.

Event Director, Collins Agwanda hailed participants for coming out in large numbers to fight for the top prizes. “The U-16 and U-18 categories will be played starting on Friday through to Sunday, and we are still accepting entries from schools” said Agwanda.

The event has been organized by Shining Hope-Kenya & USA, Victoria Tennis Academy in partnerships with Friends of Victoria Tennis Academy in USA and Europe.
