Kanduyi Stadium was established in 1956 but actual construction began in the 1960's under the County Government of Bungoma which also included a standard 400m track. It was one of the few stadiums constructed by excavating the playing field to create a stadium effect even without properly constructed terraces. The Stadium was home to Nzoia FC before relocating to their current home Sudi Stadium. The Stadium seats on a 20-acre piece of land that also hosted the Bungoma Agricultura show commonly referred to as the ASK show before being moved to the Sangalo Institute land which also hosts the Bungoma Industrial Park.

Located along the A104 Eldoret- Malaba Highway at the heart of Kanduyi Trading Center 3 km from the Bungoma Central Business District. The town is served by a 6 km dual carriage road that starts at the A104 Kanduyi Junction traversing Bungoma town and terminating at the Musikoma Junction.

Some of the social and hospitality amenities around the Stadium include Jedilica Hotel, Hunter Paradise, Drips Bar and Restaurant, Zuri Plaze, Kivuli Resort, Wanangali Sports Club, and Blue Waves. It is two Kilometers away from the Kibabi University

Kanduyi Stadium was renamed Masinde Muliro Stadium in honor of Kenya's freedom liberation Political leader the Late Masinder Muliro.

The stadium is currently under construction and will see its first phase host up to 5000 seats an indoor hall, changing rooms, first aid rooms, and official offices for the county government of Bungoma. It's estimated that upon completion the Stadium shall have a maximum capacity of 20,000 making it one of the biggest Stadiums in the Western side of the Country alongside Bukhung Stadium.

Some of the Legendary personalities who played at the Stadium include Evvarate Kahyota, John 'Kade' Muraya Evans Kadenge, demunitive  Left footed Fabisch boy Keny Simiyu Remembering Fabisch Star Ken Simiyu (michezoafrika.com). Legendary Athletes Ben Jipcho also used the Kanduyi Stadium for his 400m training as it was the only facility with a full standard 400m track
