The formerly dusty Camp Toyoyo grounds prides itself on being only the third stadium to be laid with artificial turf in the country, after City Stadium and Kisumu grounds. The stadium is located in the talent-laden Jericho, a small estate East of the Kenyan Capital, Nairobi. These grounds have been used for a long time to nurture grassroots talent in soccer and have also been used for other community events. Most notably, the newly revamped Camp Toyoyo Stadium has hosted Kenyan Premier League matches as of its opening date on July 29th, 2015.The 1000 Capacity grounds have been a home to the Jericho community Team, Jericho All-Stars.
The refurbishment of the stadium is said to have cost an amount in the region of KES 90 million. The upgrade came under the commissioning of FIFA and the local community also took part in the initiative to aid young talents in honing their soccer skills further. The ground's previous dusty playing surface was replaced by an elegant artificial turf, changing rooms and floodlights with field markings and rubber spreading. The grounds were installed with floodlights and changing rooms courtesy of the Constituency Development Funds [CDF] through the area Member of Parliament before the carpeting began.
The next project on the stadium will see it being fitted with terraces to increase the seating capacity for the lovers of the game.
