Kakamega County, Kenya, brags of one of the oldest Stadia in the region, Bukhungu Stadium. The 30,000 seater lies on Kisumu Kakamega Road just 700 meters from Kakamega Central Business Distirct, opposite Nakumatt Supermarket. It is also flanked by Masinde Muliro University of which they share the perimeter fence. It is a home to Kenya Premier League side, Kakamega Homeboyz and formerly hosted Western Stima, and Motcom a ministry of works team based in Kakamega town in the 90s .
After Successful construction of phase with a capacity of 5000 seats the County Government has embarked on phase two that will see the Stadium enhance its capcity to 30,000 seater stadium
once completes the stadium shall have a tartan track for track and field competition as well as hosting of large events which may include and not limited to political gatherings, crusades along with concerts. Similarly, this stadium is used by individuals in pursuit of personal fitness for morning and evening jogs; at least when the weather is favorable.
