The Kariokor Derby was a kenyan affair as Lydia Akoth, now of Yanga Princess faced off against a powerhouse of Jentrrix Shikangwa, Corazon Aquino, Wincate Kaari and Elizabeth Wambui of Simba Queens
YANGA Princess moved a step closer to Tanzanian League leaders Simba Queens after handing them a first league defeat with a 1 - 0 win in the Kariokor Derby at the KMC Stadium. The victory takes Yanga to 3rd place with 27 points, while Simba are on top with 34 points.
The only goal of the match came five minutes into the second half, courtesy of Jeannine Mukandayisenga, who found the back of the net to seal the victory for Yanga Princess.
Both teams fought tooth and nail throughout the first half, but neither could break the deadlock, leaving the scoreline level at halftime. However, Yanga Princess came out with renewed energy after the break, creating several opportunities. Their persistence paid off in the 50th minute when Mukandayisenga struck the decisive goal, putting her team in a strong position to claim the points.
