Will Keane lavishes Gor players with praise

Former Manchester United academy player Will Keane says he was impressed wit the technical ability of Gor Mahia players. The Hull City winger played one half of their friendly match against the Kenyan champions on Sunday, a game they won 4-3 on penalties after a 0-0 stalemate in regulation time.

“They are a very good team with good technical players. They had the better chances of the game and I honestly thought they should have won but luckily we made good saves and they didn’t score. We were fortunate to win on penalties and anybody can win so it was good,” the England Under-21 international said.

He noted that what made the match easier was the homework they had done on Gor and the fact some of the coaching team members know Gor’s head coach Dylan Kerr.

“We knew they would be a good team we saw a couple of their games and we knew they were talented players. Some of our staff knew their coach as well so we knew what they were bringing on the table. It was good to see them play and they played a very good game,”

“It was very tough on us especially with the heat which took a toll on us and probably not the best conditions on the pitch but we enjoyed it as a team and it was great to see all the support in the stadium and we go back to the UK really delighted,” Keane, whose elder brother Michael played against Gor as well last year when Everton toured Tanzania.

The team is expected to leave the country on Wednesday after a five day tour.
