Melis Medo, the Nakumatt FC head coach is confident that the team can only get better after a brilliant run that has seen them pick four wins and a draw off their last six games.
Medo who was officially named as the team coach two weeks ago says he is pleased with how his team has transformed and notes they will not be candidates of relegation.
“We have a very ambitious owner, a very ambitious chairman and so am I. I would want us to go as far as we can go. Definitely we have to consider factors such as injuries and fitness but our ambition is to keep going, keep winning,” the coach said.
He added that the biggest difference he has added into the team is understanding his players and making their play as simple as possible.
“Every player when you ask them, they are either a midfielder or a striker. But if you have a look at them, you realize, this can be one of the best right backs. We haven’t changed much of the team. Same same players, but play them to their strengths,” added the coach.
Among the changes that the coach pointed out to is turning Clinton Kisiavuki and Boniface Mukhekhe into left and right wingbacks respectively.
Nakumatt picked their biggest win in top flight, beating Kakamega Homeboyz 6-1 last Sunday to hand Medo and the side a huge boost of confidence as far as their fight for survival is concerned.
Meanwhile, the tactician has said he will be welcome to the idea of adding in new players to the squad. Medo has signed Harun Nyakha and Joe Waithira from Wazito FC already.
The team is placed 12th in the Kenyan Premier League standings and their next assignment will be away to Chemelil Sugar on June 30.
