Wanyama ready for Ethiopia test
Ethiopia vs Kenya
Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama says he is ready for Wednesday's crucial 2019 AFCON Qualifier against Ethiopia, noting the team is ready to leave Bahir Dar with maximum points.
Speaking in Addis after a training session with the team, the Tottenham Hotspur midfield powerhouse says the focus within the group is high and will take the Ethiopia test with maximum concentration.
"We are ready for the match tomorrow even though we have had less time to train together. But I feel the players are in good shape and we will tackle the match with positivity," the midfielder said.
Wanyama missed last months game against Ghana in Nairobi as he was just returning from injury and he is hopeful the feel good factor will go on and the team will pluck another three points to inch closer to an AFCON ticket.
"The team won without me against Ghana and I think that showed that we have a lot of squad depth. Everyone in the team is capable of going in and outting a performance and now we are stronger because we also have other players coming back," the skipper further opined.
Stars' last trip to Ethiopia was in the 2015 CHAN qualifiers where Kenya lost 2-0 and missed a penalty but Wanyama says that result will not have an effect on the team.
"All that is behind us and this is a different ball game altogether. Even the Ghana victory is behind us and the focus now is in these two games," said Wanyama.
