The Wanda Diamond League has unveiled the calendar for the 2025 season, just weeks after the conclusion of the 2024 campaign. The new season is set to begin on April 26, 2025, and will culminate with the prestigious final in Zurich on August 27 and 28, 2025.
The season will mirror the just concluded one, starting with two exciting events in the People’s Republic of China. The journey to the final will begin on Xiamen before moving to Shanghai/Suzhoe in early May. Following the meet ups in China, the actions shift to Doha and then head to Morocco in Africa.
As the season progresses, four more meet ups will take place across Europe, leading to the highly anticipated Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, USA, scheduled for early June. The momentum will carry through to five additional European meets before the champions are crowned at the Diamond League Final, which returns to Switzerland after last year’s finale in Brussels.
Throughout the 14 meetings leading up to the Diamond League Final, athletes will earn points based on their performances. Winners will receive eight points, with second-place finishers earning seven and so on, down to one point for the eighth-place finisher. The highest point scorers will secure their spots in the Diamond League Final, with the top six in field events, top eight in events ranging from 100m to 800m and the top ten in longer distance events all eligible to compete for the title of Diamond League Champion in Zurich.
