Volleyball fraternity in mourning following Wa-Tailor's demise
Popularly known as “Wa-Tailor”, Gitau was admitted to the Nairobi West Hospital with head injuries sustained following a road accident on Bunyala Road as he headed home from officiating the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league fixtures at the Nyayo National Stadium on 29 July 2022.
The Kenyan volleyball fraternity is in mourning following the demise of referee Edward Gitau on Thursday morning.
Popularly known as “Wa-Tailor”, Gitau was admitted to the Nairobi West Hospital with head injuries sustained following a road accident on Bunyala Road as he headed home from officiating the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) league fixtures at the Nyayo National Stadium on 29 July 2022.
He underwent surgery the following day and remained on life-support until his death on Thursday.
Kenya Volleyball Federation Chairman Waithaka Kioni paid tribute to all those who had offered supported to Gitau’s family, saying, ““Thank you to all those who have so far offered financial and moral support to the family. Let's pray for the family and continue to provide all necessary support as they endure the pain and agony of Wa-Tailor's sudden departure from our midst.”
