USM Alger coach happy with point against a good Gor
USM Alger coach Miloud Hamdi left Kasarani a happy man after picking an away point against a good Gor Mahia side
Miloud Hamdi, the USM Alger coach said he was pleased with the away point picked from Gor Mahia on Wednesday in a CAF Confederation Cup group D match at Kasarani. The tactician said it was difficult for them to play their kind of football with the soggy nature of the pitch and added Yanga’s 0-0 draw with Rayon was a hugely welcome result as it meant they retained top spot.
“I think I am happy because Gor Mahia has some good players. Also, the field was a disadvantage because it was difficult to play very good football. My players love to play good football with lots of passes, but with the field, we were forced to take the ball out quickly,” the tactician said.
Hamdi believes the side which reached the final of the 2015 African Cup of Nations and lost to TP Mazembe believes they can repeat that feat and this time go all the way and lift the crown.
“In my heart and the heart of players, we want to win this competition. We have played two games and we have four to go. It is not finished yet. We have to win in Algeria and we have to work harder to go past the group stage,” the coach further noted.
He also added that he has no regrets despite failing to beat Gor with a one man advantage, acknowledging they worked double hard as soon as they went down by a man.
