USA-Based Odhiambo drafted into Morans squad

Towering centre Fred Odhiambo will join the national men’s basketball team who resume training on Friday ahead of Fiba Africa Afrobasket 2021 qualifiers second window slated for between February 19 and 21.

Odhiambo is a student at Georgia Southern University in the USA and the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) is working round the clock to have foreign-based players’ documentation and travel looked into in time.

“We are working on abroad-based players’ visas so they can report to camp in time, as well as their documentation for the competitions. Players in the team are scheduled to undergo coronavirus tests on Wednesday, January 13,” said KBF’s assistant secretary and international referee Ambrose Kisoi who is also the director of sports in Makueni County.

The first window of the 2021 Afrobasket Qualifiers was held in Kigali, Rwanda in November where Kenya finished third in Group ‘B’ behind Senegal and Angola while Mozambique was fourth.
