Mathare United vs Kariobangi Sharks ‘slum derby’ ended in a goalless draw, while the Bidco United vs Murang’a Seal encounter also ended 0-0
A lone goal from Stafford Odhiambo helped Ulinzi Stars defeat Mara Sugar in their Kenyan Premier League encounter on Sunday at Dandora Stadium.
Odhiambo rose high to head in captain Boniface Muchiri’s cross from a free kick in the 74th minute, securing Ulinzi’s second consecutive win after a seven-game winless run. The goal was particularly special as Muchiri had just landed in the country with the national team an hour before the match and came on as a substitute in the second half.
The loss adds to Mara’s woes, as they have now lost six out of their last seven matches, earning only three points from a possible twenty seven.
In other matches, the Mathare United vs Kariobangi Sharks ‘slum derby’ ended in a goalless draw, while the Bidco United vs Murang’a Seal encounter also ended 0-0.
Ulinzi’s victory lifts them from the relegation zone to 14th place with 19 points, tied with Sharks, Mara, and Kakamega Homeboyz, with only goal difference separating the teams.
