Ulinzi Starlets marked the debut of their new manager with a resounding 5-0 victory over Wadadia in the FKF Women’s Premier League at Ruaraka Grounds in Nairobi on Sunday. Coach Ochieng’ was quick to deflect praise, saying after the match, “This win is not mine, it’s for the team. In the few days I’ve been with them, the ladies have been working towards it. I’m proud of the coach who was here before me; the ladies are doing well and know what to do. I’ve just focused on their defensive approach and we’re on track.”
Joy Oriyo, the match’s standout player reflected on the win, stating, “Based on the exercises we did this week, I was confident we were going to win. We just put into practice what we trained for all week. We worked together as a team, and this isn’t an individual victory.”
Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Oriyo added, “We still have hopes for the season because we’re just in the first leg. We’re going to come out strong in our remaining matches and you never know what might happen.”
