The military men have their work cut out as they take on nine other sides for the ultimate East and Central Africa Handball Federation (ECAHF) championship prize
As Kenya hosts this year's East and Central Africa Handball Federation (ECAHF) championship from 2 December, Ulinzi HC have set their sights on the title.
Under coach Nixon Oyaro who led them to this year's Super Cup title, the military men have their work cut out as they take on nine other sides for the ultimate prize.
"We have been training well but for some interruptions initially due to the rains. The target is to take each match at a time and win all to give ourselves a chance at the title," Oyaro said.
The club championship set for from 2 to 9 December will see 10 men's and 6 women's sides compete.
Kenya has four teams in the men's category in holders National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), Black Mamba, General Service Unit (GSU), Equity Bank and Kenya Defence Forces' (KDF) Ulinzi, while the women's category has Nairobi Water, NCPB Ladies and KDF Sharks.
"We have a technical meeting set for Saturday 2 December which will finalise all the details with the pooling done on the same day.
We first confirm that all registered teams are available during the meeting so we can make informed decisions on the draw," KHF Fixtures Secretary Charles Omondi explained.
Both NCPB and Nairobi Water are looking to retain the titles they won in the last edition held in Zanzibar.
