Uhuru opens Jamhuri Sports Ground
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Kenyatta said, ““This place is 100 percent free of charge. You will not be required to pay any money to use it.”
The first phase of the Jamhuri Sports Ground was opened on Friday 25 March 2022 by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The sports complex consists of three football grounds, a rugby pitch, and two running tracks.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Kenyatta said, ““This place is 100 percent free of charge. You will not be required to pay any money to use it.”
He also watched exhibition football and rugby matches at the venue.
Construction works at the ground, formerly known as the Telkom Sports Ground began in August 2020 and is estimated to have cost Ksh 609 million.
It will additionally have a police post, two ablution blocks, food courts, changing rooms, playing areas and two picnic sites.
