Tundo Targets another Top 10 as Karan Retires
Kenya National Rally Championship leader Karan Patel has retired and is expected to restart Day Three on Super Rally after fixing the damage on his car.
Kenyan Champion Carl "Flash' Tundo will bank on local knowledge in his pursuit for back-to-back top-10 finish at the ongoing WRC Safari Rally Kenya.
The five times ARC Safari Rally Champion topped the Kenyan contest in 13th position after the dust settled on the tough day two proceedings.
Last year, Tundo finished 9th overall and scored points in WRC's main class.
All he needs to do in the next two days is to remain consistent in his stage runs and pray that nothing unexpected happens.
Meanwhile, Kenya National Rally Championship leader Karan Patel has retired and is expected to restart Day Three on Super Rally after fixing the damage on his car.
Karan was left to rue a tough Safari experience which saw several top drivers fall by the wayside, one after the other.
"Today we started with the clutch system packed with gas, so we had to change that in first service and we were quite late out of service so we got a penalty for that. And then going into the second loop one of the drive shafts broke. Obviously, as we continued driving through the stage the driveshaft must have damaged other things around the area that its in."
Eventually, Karan's Ford Fiesta Rally2 car just switched off on transport and then his day ended that way.
Karan went in: "We will do the Super Rally tomorrow. We missed Kedong but I also understand the stage was red flagged so we are lucky that we will just remain where we were tomorrow."
