Trouble brewing in AFC Leopards camp

Trouble brewing in AFC Leopards camp

Reports from the den indicate that the players are each demanding Ksh. 20,000 for wins recorded prior to last weekend's encounter against Kakamega Homeboyz.

All is not well at the den again after AFC Leopards players reportedly down their tools on Wednesday in protest for delayed winning allowances.

This season, Leopards have enjoyed financial stability with the off-the pitch issues triggered by lack of funds that occasionally pop up and possibly derail the team haven't been reported.

However, the same old problem is back after the players failed to show up for training on Wednesday according to sources at the club.

Reports from the den indicate that the players are each demanding Ksh. 20,000 for wins recorded prior to last weekend's encounter against Kakamega Homeboyz.

The club normally pays a single player five thousand shillings for a win and it is believed that the disgruntled players are demanding payments for four matches.

Leopards were on a five-game winning streak until last weekend when they were held by Homeboyz to a barrren draw at Bukhungu Stadium.

After the game, coach Tomas Trucha admitted that internal struggles cost the team what would have been their sixth straight win and a double over Homeboyz having won the first leg 2-0.

Last week, rumours appeared to suggest that the players had served the management with notice to clear the arrears or action will be taken this week.

Leopards have been enjoying financial backing from one of the grand betting firms in the country who came on board in July 22 on a 65-million sponsorship deal in a season.

The latest from the den will certainly leave Trucha incensed as he the team was on a rhythm and worse still have a must win duel this weekend.

Ingwe will launch their bid to clinch the Mozzart Bet Cup this weekend against PAC University in the round of 32.

Should they lose, the 2017 champions will kiss the tournament whose winner represents the country in the CAF Confederation Cup goodbye.
