Top league performers headline Kenya Floorball team to Ivory Coast

This season saw six men's and women's teams participate with National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) men and Tsunami women's club emerging overall winners of the 2022/23 season.

Kenya Floorball's Most Valuable Player (MVP) duo of Anita Jerono and Hosea Kipkorir headline the national team provisional squads set to begin preparations for the African Championship set for Ivory Coast. 

At an award ceremony to celebrate the best performances of the season that was, the national squads of 35 men and a similar number for the women was named. 

Federation president Paul Maina confirmed that the selected team will head to camp for early preparations, ahead of the tournament slated for September.

Meanwhile, the awarding ceremony marked the successful conclusion of the fifth season of the league. 

This season saw six men's and women's teams participate with National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) men and Tsunami women's club emerging overall winners of the 2022/23 season. 

Jerono beat Everlyne Nyanduko to the MVP award in the women’s category while Kipkorir picked the coveted gong at the expense of Timothy Mburu who came a close second. 

Additionally, top scorers for the season that was Mirriam Kaibei and Kevin Achuka had their exploits celebrated at the events too as they also made the national team. 

 

Meanwhile, operations manager Kevin Maina has called on former players to come out and take up positions as coaches and referees. 

"I know that some of them have transitioned to institutions of higher learning that make up majority of our teams and may not have time to practice due to work commitment. However, there is enough space for all of us to come and grow the Sport," Maina offered.
