Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma has completed a landmark transfer to Czech football powerhouse Slavia Prague, in a deal reportedly valued at Sh 473 million. The 20-year-old makes the high-profile move from Swedish side IF Elfsborg, where he made a significant impact over three seasons, registering 100 appearances and 10 goals across both domestic and European competitions.
Slavia Prague’s Sporting Director, Jiří Bílek, lauded Ouma’s immense potential, affirming that the young star will complement the club’s style of play. "Timothy is a promising talent and a key representative of his nation. We believe he will be a valuable asset to our squad, bringing impressive physicality, pace, and dominance in one-on-one situations," Bílek said. He further emphasized Ouma's European experience, which will serve him well as he steps into the demands of one of Czech football's most storied clubs. "His experience in European matches will be crucial for us. We’ve been following his progress for quite some time and are confident that he’s ready for this next challenge," Bílek added, also thanking Elfsborg for the smooth negotiations.
Ouma, who previously played for Nairobi City Stars, shared his excitement at the prospect of joining his new club. "It’s a fantastic feeling. I’m looking forward to joining the team and taking my career to the next level. Slavia has an exceptional squad, and it’s both a privilege and a challenge to be part of this historic club," Ouma expressed.
Famously known as Noor Babu in local football circles, Ouma becomes the second Kenyan international after Patrick Oboya to play in the Czech league. Oboya featured for Banik Most FC between 2008 and 2011, making notable appearances in the Czech First League and European competitions.
