men's silver medalist Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) are the only representative in the men's continental tourney after champions General Service Unit (GSU) and bronze medalist Trailblazers pulled out.

Kenya Volleyball Federation women's league champions Kenya Pipeline and African champions KCB will represent the country at this year's Africa Club Championships set for Tunisia.

Meanwhile, men's silver medalist Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) are the only representative in the men's continental tourney after champions General Service Unit (GSU) and bronze medalist Trailblazers pulled out.

The women’s competition will be held in Nabeul from May 10 to 23, while the men’s tournament will take place in Tunis from May 8 to 21.

KCB who are out to defend the title they won in the last outing are preparing at their Ruaraka grounds in Nairobi while league champions have travelled to Mombasa for their final touches.

The women's category champions KCB director Paul Bitok says preparations are going on well. "We are continuing with training in Nairobi ahead of our travel to Tunisia where we hope to do well," he offered.

His counterpart for the oil merchants Paul Gitau, in an interview with Daily Nation says he had planned to camp at Kasarani for two weeks but the unavailability of the facility forced him to move the team's activities to Mombasa.

"This residential camp is key to our preparations as it will help our players to bond and focus more on the task at hand.

We needed a bigger space to train than at our usual gymnasium because we want to work on our services and floor defence.

We are targeting at least two sessions per day to assess our players further before naming our final squad,” said Gitau.

KPA, who finished fifth last season, are in their second week of residential training in Mombasa with coach Sammy Mulinge backing his side to impress in Tunisia.
