Strathmore University are chasing their 13th win in 15 matches when they take on stubborn Thika Engineers in the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) men's league action on Saturday 4 March.
The match set to be played at Nyayo Handball Court from noon highlights the days action as the league enters the homestretch.
Peter Mwathi-coached Strathmore are fifth on the log and while a win may not do much in terms of changing their position on the log, it advances their campaign for a Super Cup slot.
Coach Mwathi will rely on the services of shot stoppers Lucas Akatinda and Edgar Wanjala who have been key for the team's performance in their most recent matches especially against Kenyatta University on 11 February, a match Mwathi's men won by a single goal.
Their last outing was on 12 February against Technical University of Kenya (TUK) a match Strathmore won easily.
On Saturday, they go up against a charged Thika side still chasing a Super Cup slot and are tough opponent for any team.
The Kenneth Biwott-coached Thika side, in their last outing, faced off with General Service Unit (GSU) losing narrowly in a 30-26 outcome.
The military side, however, picked some costly injuries for two of their key players in the match against GSU. This is likely to have stretched their bench depth thin and could affect their performance.
In others men's league matches, Young City play Dessert Scorpions while Boomerang take on unbeaten Ulinzi HC.
In the women's league, Ulinzi Sharks are scheduled to play two matches against Rising Stars and Net Navigators. New Hope take on Rising Stars in the other match.
