The Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Star team consists of 32 players - 16 boys and 16 girls, scouted from across the country during the eight regional finals
Mollyvine "Molly" Owuor has become a household name among football enthusiasts across the country. A rising star in the game, Molly dazzled the crowd during the last Chapa Dimba Eastern Region tournament, earning the coveted Most Valuable Player (MVP) title while representing Siomunyu FC. Her electrifying performances on the field didn’t just win hearts—they also secured her a well-deserved move to the National Super League, where she now shines for Kayole Starlets.
At just 17 years, Molly is part of the Chapa Dimba All-Stars select team set for Huesca, Spain, for a training expedition. She credits her football inspiration to her sister Lily Owuor, who mentored her in the sport, even though Lily eventually hung up her boots.
Molly began her football journey at a young age in the Lakeside region of the country, playing at Urusi Soccer Club where she was nurtured while a student at Migosi Primary School. Coming from a family of eight children, she says that her family’s background was the driving force behind her pursuit of football. “I had to play football to get sponsorship to ease the burden of school fees on my parents. That has always been my daily motivation, to improve my family’s livelihood.”
When asked about the biggest challenge in her career. Molly shares a relatable story. “I played barefoot for most of my childhood. When time came to switch to shoes, I had a hard time adjusting.” She laughs.
After Migosi Primary, She joined Kobala Secondary School on a football scholarship, where she completed her high school national examination. In the last edition of Chapa Dimba, she played for Siomonyu Girls FC from Eastern Region, scoring three goals and assisting three others, earning the MVP title for the region. Although they were eliminated in their first match of the national competition, her performance stood out.
Reflecting on her selection for the Chapa Dimba All stars team, Molly says, “This is a dream come true for me, I always dreamt of going abroad on football duties and now it’s happening.”
The player boasts of two national team call ups having been called up in the U18 and U20 categories. Although the U18 call up didn’t materialize due to the cancellation of the CECAFA U18 competition, she was able to travel with the U20 to Ethiopia for an U20 CECAFA tie.
Looking ahead, the 17 year old aspires to play football professionally abroad. She admires Chelsea player Lauren James and Harambee Starlet’s Enez Mango as role models.
To young aspiring footballers from humble beginnings, the jovial Molly offers this advice, “Do not let your background define your dream. Dreams are valid. Be determined, work hard and stay disciplined.”

During their stay in Spain, the team will engage in a series of enriching activities designed to enhance their football journey. Huesca.
Additionally, they will also be exposed to a different climate, helping them with exposure needed for international football.
