This marked the second time this week that the reigning champions have lost advantage from a winning position, capping up a disappointing week for the team.

Gor Mahia coach Leonardo Neiva was reportedly assaulted by rowdy fans after Murang’a Seal came from two goals behind to secure a point against Gor Mahia FC during the FKF Kenyan Premier League played at Machakos Stadium on 2nd November, 2024. This marked the second time this week that the reigning champions have lost advantage from a winning position, capping up a disappointing week for the team.

Coach Neiva reinstated Enock Morrison, Paul Ochuonga, Musa Masika and Chris Ochieng’ into his starting eleven after they were sidelined in their previous match due to disciplinary issues related participating in a weekend league game.

Gor dominated the match from the start and their efforts paid off in the 17th minute when Shariff Musa slotted the ball home after Musa Masika set him up. However, they faced a setback in the 30th minute when Sharrif went down injured and was substituted for Bryson Wangai. Just before halftime, Musa Masika headed home a cross from Enock Morrison’s freekick to give K’ogalo a 2 – 0 lead at the break.

In the second half, the visitors came back stronger, pulling a goal back in the 49th minute through Joe Wathira. Murang’a continued pushing for a goal, but the Gor defense held firm throughout. Their persistence finally paid off in the second minute of extra time when Elly Saenyi leveled the score to secure a point.

As Murang’a Seals fans celebrated after the match, frustrated Gor Mahia supporters confronted the team and coaching staff, demanding accountability for the disappointing result. Coach Leiva had to be whisked away by police and tear gas lobbed to disperse the crowd, but he reportedly sustained injuries during the scuffle.

In other matches, Harambee Stars U20 right back Baron Ochieng’s early strike and 73rd minute goal from forward Daniel Otieno secured a 2 – 0 for Sofapaka over Kakamega Homeboyz at Dandora Stadium. Meanwhile, Kariobangi Sharks came from behind to secure a 1 – 1 draw against Talanta FC.
