Scheduled to play against stubborn Dessert Scorpions and archrivals Ulinzi HC on Saturday and Sunday respectively, the varsity side have their work cut out.
Peter Mwathi-coached Strathmore University HC will be involved in the two men's league matches scheduled in the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league this weekend.
The tactician is keen to guide his charges back to winning ways, having lost to Thika Engineers in their last match, as they look to pick maximum points that will help the side seal a Super Cup slot.
Scheduled to play against stubborn Dessert Scorpions and archrivals Ulinzi HC on Saturday and Sunday respectively, the varsity side have their work cut out.
"We are working on our defense ahead of the weekend matches. These are crucial matches for us as we find ourselves at the risk of missing out in the top six for a Super Cup slot. We are, however, confident of a good show on the weekend," coach Mwathi offered.
Strathmore go up against a Dessert Scorpions side that joined the league late but has managed to pick seven wins in 17 matches and will be out to finish their regular league on a high.
As for the clash against Nixon Oyaro-coached Ulinzi, Mwathi's charges find themselves in a tricky situation as the military side is fighting to dethrone National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) and will be out to prevent a second loss, having already fallen to General Service Unit (GSU).
The rest of the weekend's action will be the women's league with Kimilili-based Rangers Women in town.
On Saturday, the women's side face off with New Hope and NCPB Ladies before taking on holders Nairobi Water and Net Navigators on Sunday to conclude their season. The side is chasing maiden Super Cup slot.
