Strathmore, KU to clash as hockey action intensifies

2014 Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) women’s  national league runners up Strathmore University Scorpions will be out to make amends when they host an in-form Kenyatta University (KU) side this afternoon in women’s national league match at the City Park Stadium.

Scorpions lost their last league match 1-0 to fast improving Sliders to drop to third place, 13 points behind league leaders and champions Telkom Orange and six behind second place Sliders, although they  have played two games less than the top two.

Scorpions edged out Titans 1-0 in the reverse fixture and the derby  promises to be closely contested. Titans are five points behind their opponents and will look to build on last weekend’s 2-0 win over Daystar Falcons.

In the men’s premier league, fourth-placed United States International University (USIU) men’s team have a chance to move into third place when they tour to Nakuru Hockey Club.

The university side is on 25 points; three behind third place Greensharks who are not in action this weekend.

Strathmore University Gladiators  will play Parkroad in another premier league match at the City Park.

On Sunday, Sliders  will have a chance to close in to league leader  Orange if they win against  USIU Spartans in women’s league encounter at the City Park Stadium.

In the men’s national league, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) will welcome Kisumu Youngstars on Saturday before National Youth Service (NYS) battle them on Sunday.

Parkroad Tigers host Wazalendo Youth in another second tier encounter in tomorrow’s last match.
