Harambee Stars is set to play Equatorial Guinea, Swaziland in Nairobi
Sebastien Migne will have a set of two friendly matches at the end of this month to assess further his squad as he continues to prepare for September’s African Cup of Nations Qualifier against Ghana in Nairobi.
Stars have been scheduled to play Swaziland on May 25 before facing Equatorial Guinea three days later in two friendly matches in Nairobi. After that, the team will depart to India for a four-nation invitational tournament.
In India, Kenya will play the hosts, New Zealand and Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) in a round robin format, with the top two teams in the group facing off in the final.
Migne has had one session already with a group of 27 local based players having held two training sessions with the team at the Camp Toyoyo Ground last Tuesday. After the session, Migne admitted there is a lot of work to do before the Ghana game and these five games might give him a chance to improve the squad.
The tactician will mostly have a squad of local based players for the games as some of the European leagues are still ongoing while the ones which have come to a close have given their players time to rest.
Also, the games do not fall on an international FIFA week.
Meanwhile, the team has moved up two places in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday afternoon. There hasn’t been much movement in the rankings as there have not been any FIFA engagements since the last set was released in March.
