Sichenje, Omune Lead AFC Leopards to 2-0 Victory Against Bandari

In other action, defending champions Gor Mahia triumphed 1-0 over Kariobangi Sharks at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, to move into third place.

AFC Leopards secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Bandari in their final league match of the 2024 season, extending their unbeaten run to five games at Dandora Stadium on Saturday. 

AFC Leopards coach Fred Ambani opted to rest Bonface Munyendo and start Brian Wanyama while Levis Opiyo returned replacing injured Humphrey Katasi.

The first half was for both teams as they all pressured each other to get a goal. AFC Leopards had numerous chances to take the lead but Ovella Ochieng’ just couldn’t manage to put any of his chances into the net , with the first half ending goalless. 

Leopards finally managed to break the deadlock in the 72nd minute when Ronald Sichenje struck a precise shot to give his side the lead. Substitute Victor Omune then sealed the win with a goal nine minutes from time, securing the three points and their sixth win of the season.

The victory lifts AFC Leopards to fifth place with 22 points, while Bandari slipped to sixth after suffering their second defeat of the season.

 

In other action, defending champions Gor Mahia triumphed 1-0 over Kariobangi Sharks at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos, to move into third place. Gedeon Bendeka’s first-half strike, capitalizing on a defensive error between Sharks’ defenders Luke Otiala and Ian Taifa, proved to be the match-winner.

The win saw Gor Mahia bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Kenya Police, demonstrating their resilience in the race for another league title. Despite a strong second-half effort from Kariobangi Sharks, Gor Mahia’s solid defense held firm, keeping them within three points of leaders KCB.
