Al Seeb are top of the standings while Sialo’s new employer Al Salam who blanked Majees 3-1 (25-22, 25-15, 21-25, and 25-20) in their most recent match are in second place.

Trailblazers opposite player, Moses Omondi Sialo says he is eager to bag the Oman volleyball league title after penning a season-long deal with Al Salam Club for the 2023-2024 season.

Omondi, who previously featured for Iraqi volleyball side Erbil Club, left the country on 15 December for Oman where he joined the top-tier side in the 2023/24 that has entered the second round of playoffs featuring the top six teams.

“I am joining the league at a very competitive level; that's the knockout stages so I have to dig deep to help the team win. That would be more satisfying. So far we're doing well. We have three wins out of three matches and looking forward to qualifying for the semi-finals of the league set for mid-next month,” he offered.

Sialo, who also had professional stints with Rwanda Energy as well as the Japanese top-tier league featuring for Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adle, admits that the Oman league is very competitive but in a quick rejoinder says his new club has what it takes to fight for the title.

“There are good local players in the league and very good and talented ones from volleyball power nations like Brazil, Russia and the USA also playing here. I feel like it's quite a good challenge and I am enjoying doing what I like,” he opened up.

He continued, “I think I am equally up to the task to challenge for my space because I believe in hard work. I am looking forward to a successful season here. Hopefully we will win the league as we have what it takes to challenge for the league. We are second in the round of six, two points below the reigning champions Seeb.”

Majees are third with five points, two behind Al Salam with Oman Club occupying fourth place on four points. Suhar and Al Bashayer are fifth and sixth respectively.

“I would like to thank myself for the hard work and the resilience that has seen me rise through the ranks of volleyball in the country and I pray that God gives me good health to keep playing even to greater heights.”
