Kakamega Homeboyz claimed a 2-1 victory over AFC Leopards in Saturday’s Ingo Derby at Dandora Stadium, with Moses Shumah and Henry Omolo playing key roles.

Leopards took the lead in the 8th minute, with Victor Omune scoring his fifth goal of the season from a well placed cross by Ronald Sichenje. However, Homeboyz equalized just before halftime, as Shumah converted a cross from John Omondi in the 45th minute, taking his tally to 14 goals for the season.

The second half saw Shumah continue his pursuit for another goal, testing Leopards’ goalkeeper Levis Opiyo a few times. In the 70th minute, coach Francis Baraza made a crucial substitution, bringing on Omolo for Shumah. Omolo made an immediate impact, scoring the winner in the 84th minute after a deflected cross from Oliver Majaka fell to him in the box.

Homeboyz held on to the slim 2-1 lead through five minutes of injury time, securing all three points and moving up to 5th in the standings with 38 points. For Leopards, it was a tough defeat, extending their winless run to six matches, with coach Fred Ambani's side dropping to 6th place with 37 points.

Earlier at the same venue, Mathare United triumphed 3-2 over Posta Rangers. Rangers took an early lead through Felix Olouch, but Mathare leveled before halftime with a penalty from Deric Amani. Second-half goals from Musa Masika and Paul Kinyanjui secured the win despite a late rally from Rangers.
