Police have also confirmed that a case of culpable homicide along with charges of reckless and negligent driving and fleeing from the scene, has been opened against the 29-year-old.
South African soccer star Shaune Mogaila has surrendered to the police following a tragic collision that claimed the life of a nine-year-old. The accident occurred in the morning of Wednesday 30th October, 2024, after which the footballer fled the scene.
Inside the Sekhukhune United winger’s BMW M2 car, police found empty bottles of alcohol and a white powder believed to be cocaine.
"When Ekurhuleni Metro Police arrived at the scene, we found four bottles of potent alcohol named Don Julio. A powder which we suspect could be 'cocaine' and weed 'edibles' was also found in his vehicle," said acting EMPD chief Julius Mkhwanazi.
“A female driver was transporting her nine-year-old daughter. The child succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The mother’s 13-year-old daughter sustained serious injuries and was transported to Tembisa Tertiary Hospital.”

"The suspect has since handed himself to the police," Chief Mkhwanazi added.
Mogaila was on the pitch the night before, playing full ninety minutes when Sekhukhune United beat Richard Bay 2 – 0 in the South Arican Premier League on Tuesday, 29th October, 2024.
