The Ministry of Health has okayed the return of sporting activities in schools in the latest revision of COVID-19 protocols announced by Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.
The Ministry had halted all sporting activities in schools at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, but now, as Kagwe relaxed most of the containment measures put in place then, there is an okay for the return of school games.
“The ministry of Education should devise plans for the full resumption of sporting activities in learning institutions,” Kagwe stated.

Tournaments like the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom tourney as well as Copa Coca Cola which involves High Schools were also affected.
Meanwhile, Kagwe announced that stadia are now expected to return to full capacity for vaccinated fans and masks will not be mandatory. However, this had not been adhered to previously as most sporting venues allowed unlimited number of fans even before Kagwe’s okay.
