Sang placed sixth in 1500m T11 final

Sang was reinstated to the final lineup after finishing fifth in his semifinal race on Monday. This happened after his guide, David Korir, was tripped by Brazilian Agripina dos Santos.

Kenya’s Eric Sang finished sixth in the men’s 1500m T11 final at the Tokyo Paralympics on Tuesday 31 August 2021.

Sang was reinstated to the final lineup after finishing fifth in his semifinal race on Monday. This happened after his guide, David Korir, was tripped by Brazilian Agripina dos Santos.

However, upon appeal, Sang got his chance to race in the final, clocking a time of 4 minutes 21.53 seconds as Brazil’s Y. Jacques claimed the gold in a world record time of 3 minutes 57.60 seconds with S.Wada of Japan claiming silver in 4:05.27. The Russian Paralympic Committee’s F.Rudakov took the bronze in 4:05.55.
