Mvurya’s appointment comes amid concerns over the country’s readiness to host the CHAN (African Nations Championship) in February.
In a cabinet reshuffle announced by President William Ruto on Thursday December 19th, 2024, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry (MITI) H.E Hon Salim Mvurya, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports. He replaces Kipchumba Murkomen who has been assigned to the vacant Ministry of Interior.
Mvurya’s appointment comes amid concerns over the country’s readiness to host the CHAN (African Nations Championship) in February, as the construction of Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums and training facilities to CAF standards has fallen behind schedule, with the CAF president Patrick Motsepe expected to visit the country on Friday to check on the level of preparedness.
