Safaricom PLS has unveiled the 2024 Chapa Dimba All Stars team, which will tour Spain in a vibrant event held at Ligi Ndogo Grounds on December 5th, 2024. The team consists of 32 players, 16 male and 16 female, scouted from this year’s Chapa Dimba campaign, which attracted more than 60,000 players countrywide.

While in Spain, the players will engage in a series of enriching activities designed to enhance their football journey. They will play against Huesca’s Youth Academy, attend masterclasses led by former professional players, and make use of the state-of-the-art facilities at the Base Aragonesa de Fútbol, the modern sports city of S.D. Huesca. This experience will also expose the players to a different climate, aiding their international football development.

“It’s truly exciting to be part of the squad traveling to Spain. Playing in Spain and experiencing world class football has always been my dream. Thanks to Safaricom Chapa Dimba, that dream is becoming a reality. I’m grateful for this opportunity and am determined to make the most of it by learning and growing my football career,” said Khamis Nyale, a Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars player.

Two coaches, Chrispine Odindo of Plateau Queens and Evans Oketch of Obunga FC along with FKF officials will accompany the players to Spain.

Patrick Korir, the acting CEO of FKF, offered some advice to the players. “When you go to Spain, you’ll have to adjust to many things. From food to time and also culture shock. Please be good timekeepers, otherwise you’ll clash with your trainers there. You are the lucky ones, congratulations and go make Kenya proud.”

Zizwe Awuor, the Brand and Marketing Manager at Safaricom, highlighted the company’s investment in developing football talent, noting, “Safaricom has committed Ksh 2.5 billion to nurturing football talent. The players will get to experience state-of-the-art facilities and top-quality coaching in Spain.”

She also mentioned the excitement within the camp, as most of the players will be traveling abroad for the first time: “I asked the players how many have been outside the country, and one replied, ‘We’re used to using matatus, but now we’ll be flying.’ They are all eager and excited for this experience.”

The Chapa Dimba tournament has already produced many talented players, such as Dancan Omala of Nairobi United, Jentrix Shikangwa of Simba Queens, Jane Hato of Kenya Police FC, Valerie Nekesa of Madira Queens (2024 CAF Young Female Player of the Year), Lorine Ilavonga of Wiyeta Girls (U17 World Cup), Jane Njeri, Cynthia Livondo and Judith Osimbo among others.
