Harry Kane celebrates his penalty goal against Colombia on Tuesday night
Gareth Southgate is set to make changes to The Three Lions format to an infamous 3-3-2-2 when they meet Sweden on Saturday in Samara for the last eight clash.
Last week the Three Lions were set on a massive high after an exhilarating 120 minutes of play that set them up in a penalty shootout against Colombia. Gareth Southgate's men went ahead to win the shootout for the very first time in a world cup. England are now favourites to win the clash that pits them against Sweden.
Emil Forsberg scored the winning goal for Sweden in the second half to knock off Switzerland out the last eight in a match that saw Xerdan Shaqiri and the entire Switzerland battalion perform way below par. Sweden will now be worthy opponents against the Three Lions at the Samara Stadium.
Going into the game, Gareth Southgate will have a number of concerns about his squad's fitness. Jamie Vardy is a massive doubt after he picked up a groin injury on Tuesday where he was used as a substitute in extra time and was not fit enough to take a penalty. Others who add to the three lions woes include Dele Alli (thigh), Ashley Young (ankle), Harry Kane (back) although the three have a half a chance on playing. Jesse Lingard picked a knock but will be fine to play.
