City Stars were struggling with consistency before last month's FIFA international break but the back to back wins over Sharks and Posta have seen them make to the top half of the log.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League leaders Posta Rangers have suffered their second defeat of the season after bowing 1-0 to Nairobi City Stars at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Rangers were looking to register their eighth win in the campaign and extend their stay at the summit for at least another week.

However, they were stunned by City Stars who secured maximum points courtesy of a first half strike by winger Samuel Kapen.

Rangers will hope that Gor Mahia who are a point behind them will fall to Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday in order to remain perched at the top.

The three points took City Stars to eighth on the log with 18 points, relieving the club off the pressure of being in the red zone.

In other matches played on Saturday, KCB were held by Shabana to a 1-1 draw at the Raila Odinga Stadium, slowing their march to the top.

The bankers were seeking to grab maximum points and hope that Posta would fall so as to place joint top.

However, they were frustrated to a draw by Shabana who took the  lead through Brian Michira in the eighth minute.

Francis Kahiro replied for KCB later in the first half a goal that saw him take his tally to six in the season.

Meanwhile, Ulinzi Stars shot FC Talanta thrice at the St.Sebastian Park to arrest their three-game losing streak.

Boniface Muchiri was the sharpest shooter on the pitch as his three bullets won Ulinzi three points. He becomes the second player to register a hat-trick this season after Erick Ombija of Talanta.
