Rachier clarifies Oktay exit, welcomes new coach
Gor Mahia welcomes new coach to take over from Oktay who resigned last week
Gor Mahia last week appointed former Asante Kotoko boss Steve Polack as the new coach on a two-year contract. Polack arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday last week and had discussions with the club’s Executive where personal terms were agreed.
Speaking in Nairobi, Gor Mahia coach has welcomed the new coach and also moved to calm speculation over former coach Oktay’s exit.
The former coach Oktay left the club last week after being given permission to attend to personal issues back at his family home in England. However, it seems he could not get all the issues sorted and hence made the decision to resign from the club.
“I have known these issues for a long time and they are really serious issues. When he told me he wanted to leave I understood that it was a must for him to go,” Rachier said, refuting rumors that the coach was looking for a way out.
At the same time, Rachier has welcomed the new coach and said, “He was one of the three coaches we were considering before we hired Oktay. He was among the top three and so it wasn’t hard to pick out someone to come immediately. ”
